A number of people have been Twittering about it for a while, but I find it's not until you get a recommendation from someone that you trust that you try these things! You mention last.fm - which (to be fair) is still pretty good, and I'm more than happy to have it coexisting alongside Spotify. I like the music profiling that last.fm gives you, and the way it keeps track of what you're listening to. Happily, Spotify has a feature to "scrobble" (don't you just love that word) the tracks you listen to across to last.fm. It's in the preferences, in case you hadn't spotted it.
